This school needs some major adjustments, mainly with staff. Let me start with I see why Shelby county schools are failing it's because of who they have running it. Upon arriving at the school I see 4 students skipping class ( but they have 2 patrol cars onsite no officers around, staff members walking around not paying attention to these students). The reason I went to the school was to check my nephew out for a doctors appointment, when I get to the office Mrs. Sanders tells me I can't check my nephew out because I'm not on the list to check out my 17 year nephew. And that she is following procedures, first off he is 17 he knows who I am he isn't a baby if that is understandable if it's a child in elementary. So I call my sister who speaks with Mrs. Sanders, she sends me to speak to Dr. Falcon she says by law she can't release my 17 year old nephew to me even though I have his mother on the phone. Then when I threatened to report her she follows me out to my car yelling at me that I need to hear her out and by law she can't release him. If this child is sick and has a doctors appointment and the parent is on the phone and me and that parent share the same last name why not release him. If the child gets sick and his health is at stack and needs to see a doctor you should allow that guardian to get that child. They are so busy sitting behind their desk making up rules and pissing parents off they don't see kids skipping or fighting or having relations on school property this is why they can't teach our kids they are to busy trying to piss parents/guardians off over issues like checking a sick child out of school. Dr. Falcon and Mrs. Sanders were both unprofessional today and both had bad attitudes. I understand school protocol because I have a child and if he gets sick and I can't get to him or the person I have on the checkout list is unavailable I call to let the school know that another family member will be checking my child out and they take and check the ID of that person while I'm on the phone and ask my child who is that person to him checking him out. Thats why I pulled my child out of Shelby county school years ago I put him back in this year and it's still a mess. The school system is falling because of who they have running it that's why outsiders come in in take over Shelby county schools. It's a mess and it's sad because all they care about is lining their pockets and selling the schools that they don't see it's destroying the students who actually want a education and future. Memphis needs to do better. You don't see schools in Cordova, Bartlett, or Germantown selling their schools and throwing away their kids future.
Worst high school ever can't wait to get my son transferred out of there. Teachers can't care less what happen to the students. As long as there asses are cover. They cover up bullying. Teachers can't get their story straight.
I graduated from this school a few years ago, and I am now at a top-notch university. Coming out of Craigmont, I do not feel prepared at all for college. If you are a current student and serious about learning, please please please transfer somewhere else, perhaps Whitestation.
