Shelby farms dog park is amazing! Its a great way to socialize your dogs and let them run and get exercise! Our dogs love going and my german shephard gets so happy when we get close, she knows. Im glad for having it to take our dogs too.
One of the best dog parks I've seen-- this place is HUGE, and there are tons of things for your dogs to do (ponds, puddles, trails, wide open spaces to run, etc.). The scenery is gorgeous as well. There's even a dog wash down area so that you can hose your dog down before he/she gets back in your car.
The park is only partially fenced in, which is the only downside.
This place is a precious gem in the center of our city. I am so grateful to have this dog park to take my dog to get her exercise. She loves all the lakes and open fields!
This is awesome. Facts and info: Not totally fenced, and it's not totally clear about this(the only reason not 5 stars). It is fenced enough that if your dog is fairly well bonded, won't run away to escape, and usually performs recall, then you should expect to be fine. The Outback P2 parking has fencing and dog gates. There's enough fencing in that area to work just fine. There are soft borders with signs letting you know to use a leash from that point on. About 3 lakes(depends if you go that far or not), a lot of trail, a lot of field, a lot of woods. Occasional shade along the field trails but not a lot(fyi for hot days), though plenty of lake water to cool down. One dog combo fountain and 2 wash hoses near the entrance. Lakes(ponds) are dirty so bring soap and a towel. Plenty of benches and table near main 2 lakes. Plenty of hills. Don't let your dog drink the water though, it's very dirty physically and biologically. My mistake, but she picked up 2 kinds of worms. I'll now bring fresh water and a collapsible bowl.
Love this place! This is one of the only places my husky can just open up and sprint like nature intended. It's great to have a place like this so close by for him to utilize. Lots of ponds. Lots of people with lots of dogs. Lots of fun.
For a point of reference, I have only been once, and on a hot sunny day. I walked with my dog around the 3 lakes. It was maybe 2hrs. My dog really enjoyed it.
