I frequent this post office all the time. I have never had a bad experience. I once left my cell phone at the automated machine and came back about 10 minutes later when I realized I had left it sitting on the machine. I asked at the desk and they had it for me!
I also very often have packages going overseas that require a lot of extra time entering things on the computer. The workers are always top notch in getting my packages where they need to go.
I am a 'DAILY' business customer and I spend hundreds of dollars a week in postage. However, today, as I walk in the door, knowing well that this location closes at 5:30, Ms. Bobbie announces to me, "We're closed, look at the time!" Immediately, I stopped to look at my phone which shows 5:29. Really? And I thought we were friends? But today you talk to me with that tone and attitude? Just what do you think I was doing all the way there busting my butt to get through traffic as I do every day supporting OUR USPS? I was staring at the clock in the truck, hoping I would make it before 5:30 because I know how adamant you are about locking the door right at 5:30! It takes approximately 2 minutes for them to scan my 2 buckets of packages. Well maybe I'm wrong, since I expected a clerk to work an extra minute or so after closing, but today's Monday, and I did the best I could to get everything out yet leaving an order on the shelf I knew I couldn't pack in time. Her statement was simply just one more very loud and clear, "WE DON'T CARE!!!" which is what I actually see and experience often, since I get to watch the clerks serving customers an average of 15 minutes a day, or at least an hour a week, while I wait to be served. Unfortunately, if confronted regarding this review, she will probably just walk away thinking, "You got that right, I DON'T CARE!" and nothing will change. That's just what kind of business our post office has turned into. They ask for surveys every day, but nothing changes. I've encountered too many problems with this I DON'T CARE attitude from the elderly window clerks at this post office. They need to keep replacing them with younger people, who seem to at least act like they know the job is more than clocking in and out while they try to consistently show respect to customers as though they really do appreciate our business . . . not sweet one day, and rude the next! Or maybe the old-timers just need to be retrained? Most businesses that know proper business etiquette close 5 minutes after closing time, because they truly DO CARE about their customers. So what do I do next, drive out to Collierville where they stay open later? Or just go drop the goods off at the downtown dock and take the risk some of the packages getting lost tonight as they usually do when they're not scanned in?
Receiving my mail is okay. Service at location is okay but receiving packages has been a problem. I use to have an outstanding maillady. When she went on maternity leave everything changed. Usually if am not home to receive a package a slip is left in my mailbox and I go pick it up in the office. Now it is left outside my apartment door where anyone can pick it up or worse downstairs by the mailboxes outside (both spots are outside) I have made several visits to the office to request that a slip always be left and told that the problem is they have different temp working. No the problem is not everyone is trained to do the same thing and some are being lazy about their job. This has been happening for over 3 years. Obviously I no longer have the same mail lady because she was great. Also one day I was headed home from work on Evergreen. A mail car pasted me on a neighborhood street going at least 60mph. I was able to see part of the license plate. I went to the post office down the street to report it. They said they would let the supervisor know but it was probably because it was close to closing time. There is never an excuse for that.
I like that they have a kiosk for mailing stamps. This was convenient and saved me time from being in the long line.
This particular post office is absolutely terrible. I wish I had a choice of post offices because this would not be it.
Delivering a package cannot be as hard as they make it seem. FedEx and UPS deliver my packages just fine. Whenever I get a USPS package, it's a 50/50 shot that it'll actually show up! They leave the note in mailbox without even attempting to knock on my door. When I lived in other parts of town, I NEVER had any issues with getting my mail and packages.
