My cat Clayton has been going to Southwind since November 2014 and we love it! I appreciate that Southwind keeps me organized by sending regular emails (both general and personalized), and I love that they provided me with a hard copy ID card for Clayton (kind of like a driver's license) when we first started going there. They are always easy to schedule with (regular appointments and even last minute boarding needs), and they are in a good part of town. More than anything, though, they love Clayton and I feel like they remember her/are excited to see her every time I bring her in. I recommend Southwind to all my friends with pets!
When I arrived, instead of focusing on the claw, they pressured me into getting shots and a number of other tests done. I do not mind putting out money to take care of my cats, but I feel pushed to spend more money. The vet tech gave me a dirty look when I told her I felt she was pushing me to spend mote money for things I did not ask for, especially since she was talking to me as if they had already scheduled me for the shots that I did not request. For example, I have indoor only cats, and she insisted I get the feline leukemia booster shot. I know the risks of the disease, but if my cat doesn't even want to venture outside, and I have no other cats coming into my home, the chances are slim that my kitties will contract the disease. Yet here is the vet tech trying to make me feel guilty for not opting for the booster.
Do I want my vet to care for my animals? Yes. Do I want to feel like I'm being gouged for unnecessary expenses, especially without first discussing with me? No.
visit with them.
I've taken two of my cats to Southwind now, and I feel as if they are trying to make more money off of me.
the staff is kind and personable. the doctors will call you to discuss things you should be concerned about. they make follow up calls after visits. great place!
I did like the Vet that I met today. She did suggest I get bloodwork and urine done to check the overall well- being of my cat, but she was not pushy about it. I will see what comes of it, but I am wary they may suggest I do other things that may not be needed.
The staff care for the pets like it’s their own. Very kind people.
All the staff are VERY friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, understanding, and caring! My dogs have always received EXCELLENT care here!
When my cat started vomiting and having diarrhea, they pushed me to do a bunch of tests to only come to the conclusion that they really didn't know what was wrong. They then referred me to Memphis Veterinary Hospital, which ran similar, but more extensive testing. Basically, I paid to do 2 ultrasounds, when if they had initially told me they only had the capability to do a partial ultrasound in the first place and referred me then, I wouldn't have had to shell out the extra $400 to their clinic. The one cat was seen by 2 different vets here, and they both gave me differing diagnoses.
However based on reviews, and also the fact that the office is close to home, and thus a less stressful drive for my cats, I thought I'd take my other cat in to see them for an ingrown claw. It's possible that I had an off-
