Indie Acting Studio has taught me more than I could have ever dreamed of learning in such a short amount of time. Forrest Pruett is PHENOMENAL at what he does. He is an incredible teacher, but most importantly he actually cares about his students. He wants to see you succeed. Indie Acting Studio has opened up SO many doors for me and I am forever grateful. I highly recommend checking it out. You won't regret it.
One of the greatest experiences of my life. These people have become my friends and my family. This is the future of the Memphis Acting Community. A tradition started by Red West and carried on by Forrest Pruitt and friends. It is where Memphis Actors come to learn and grow and commune.
It is a great place to learn. As simple as that. The folks that come in are friendly and Forrest is a nurturing teacher. One of the things you will learn on your first day is that Indie Acting is a safe place to fail. Here you will build a network, work your acting chops, learn a few tricks of the trade, and get primed for your next (or first) audition. Considering that public speaking is the greatest fear for a lot of people, I would describe the people involved and the process you go through to learn as "healthy".
I have only been attending classes for a few weeks now, but I am upset I didn't start earlier! If you're like me and worried that you won't be good enough, or are afraid to start classes, don't be. Forrest, as well as all of the students in class are incredibly welcoming. There is no judgement, only encouragement and instructive critique to further your acting potential. I can already tell that Forrest wants his students to succeed and is great at giving you the tools to do just that.
I highly recommend; the classes include scene study and improv; workshops are awesome too! I definitely improved on my skill set and have been cast a lot more by perfecting the craft. The instructor, Forrest, helps guide through direction and suggestions for scenes, and it helped me think faster on my feet, but also to become more comfortable in selecting my choices, while remaining confident about them.
