I love dining here. They're always friendly and always provide great service. The food is always delicious. However I do wish their drinks were a little bit stronger lol. But overrall it's one of my favorite restaurants to eat at.
One star is one half too much! The service at the Union location in Memphis, TN is horrendous, I mean horrible. The poor service starts at the door, the greeter NEVER greeted us. The greeter never even looked at us. We literally walked up to him and engaged him. By the way, this is the second time this has happened to me within a month or two. Our waiter, aith no name tag on, NEVER introduced himself. When asked what his name was, he addressed himself as Mr whomever. I told him that I wouldn't address him as such. Thus, preempted me to ask if he was the manager. He never properly took our order. I had to ask him to get our order. He took the appetizer order and walked off. I flagged him down again and told him we were ready to order. Upon returning to the table, he NEVER said anything, he just sat the items on the table and walked off. My being a lady 55 plus years, having been in customer service and administration, knew that more than poor service, this Mr whomever he was, was down right rude. Someone else brought our food out, I informed her of our experience, I even asked if the guy was prejudice. The lady apparently pulled his coattail, because he did say a few words upon returning to the table. She should've sent the manager to our table. My visit prior to this one is even juicier! While using the restroom, I come out og the stall to find a bewildered looking teenager standing in the floor in awe. A male server was cleaning the mirror and singing as if the situation was "normal". After coming all the way out of the stall, the girl proceeded into her stall. I adamantly ask the gentleman WHY was he in the ladies restroom while we were in there, he smirked and continue to sing and clean the window. I then say to him " you can't be in here with us, and you still cleaning the mirror, i told him to get out. The guy leaves out and I asked for the manager. The guy comes up to me and asks " are you serious, are you gonna tell on me?" I told him that I was dead serious, and that he should know better, and he should be held accountable. Upon talking to the manager, he butted in and lied as if he didn't know that anyone was in there. I informed the manager of his lie and let her know that a girl was standing in the middle of the floor looking confused when I walked out of the stall. The manager gave a half-hearted apology. Not only was that against protocol, it was an issue that should have been handled right on the spot. The young man should have been terminated for ignoring policy n procedures, for lying, and for interrupting the manager and myself after she told him several times to go to the back. Now, what bothers me the most is, I really like Applebee's, but service sucks. I suggest that you guys invest in a seminar or training class on simple everyday manners and "common courtesy", and they have the nerve to be expecting a tip. I never really comment or post but, the survey popped up on my phone. So, what better opportunity to let you guys and the public know just are rude and how careless your staff handles your customers.
I really enjoyed my visit with our waiter Birdie. He offered food suggestions and got our food to us quickly! He was even accommodating to our "weird" request. For our first time here thumbs up!
Liked the food and beverage but prices too high and not clearly marked between lunch and dinner.
Was never greeted when we walked in. No one else waiting and lots of empty tables. Was finally acknowledged and seated. Too many workers talking and standing around. Waited 15 min before we got our drinks. Didn't get silverware until 10 min after food even after repeated requests. Found out it was busy due to a festival so gave them benefit of the doubt. Food was good. Manager should disperse customers and servers better. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and working more than other coworkers.
