As a patient at Healthsouth in Raleigh, you need to be ready to wait for things, as they always seem to be short staffed. There seem to be a lot of managers about who will gladly listen to you if you complain enough, but the staff on the unit are just too busy to get to you any time soon and spend the time needed with you. I don't plan to go back there.

My husband was there for PT rehab following a heart attack. He was doped up & parked 2 feet from a nurses station as a "fall risk." Meanwhile his food trays were going in & out of his room untouched. I went to visit him & they had no idea where he was ( in a wheelchair). Wound up in Baptist East. Diagnosed with "malnutrition & dehydration." Try the Highlands" instead. A little seedy but great PT & medical crew.

I would love to work there ,,, I'm 18 and mature

It was wonderful

Takes forever to get anything done. As a patient, my mother had to wait approximately 20-30 min to use the restroom after calling nurses, or 1.5 hours for pain medication. She has stayed slumped in uncomfortable positions for hours waiting on someone to reposition her (which is unacceptable for someone with 2 back surgeries and neck surgery). The doctors have their nurse practitioners do their daily visits. When I raise concerns about things, they are not taken seriously, but instead have been ostracized in front of family members as me "trying to diagnose". For instance, my mother had a stent put in her esophagus and was having more pain in that area than there was the first 2-3 days after placement. A common complication of stents is that they migrate out of place. The symptoms of migration are chest pain and dysphagia (which she had). So, I asked if we can do a test to see if the stent had migrated. I was declined by the nurse telling my family that I shouldn't be trying to diagnose her. It was never my intention to diagnose her and I found this incredibly rude. I simply asked if she might need a test to make sure this is not the cause of her pain. My mother had already been through 2 months of doctors and nurses misdiagnosing her esophageal tear and only treating the pneumonia that she got bc of the tear. She almost died bc of their misdiagnosises. I simply wanted reassurance that she was not being overlooked again, and that is the response that I got. I would not recommend this place to anyone and can't wait until we leave!
