My better half was at this hospital and i will say it was by far the best experience we have ever had at any hospital. The Dr's were amazing as well as the whole nursing staff all the way down to the sweet lady that deliverd her meals to her. I will proudly give this hospital the best rating 5.
I like this place more than M. North. Doc was cool, informative, nurses were sweet. Over all my medical experience was nice. Just one thing, not that it's that huge of a deal, but i went into the Family Relations center. Was hoping i could charge my laptop up a little. I admit its immature to just wander around the hospital, but i don't think that was a reason for the girl working the desk to get so snippy with me. She greeted me, asked what i needed, i admitted i was just waiting for my ride and she proceeds to point to the door and say repeatedly say "There's the exit." Fake smile and all. I'm not saying either us is right or wrong but it was kinda humiliating for all those people to stare at me as she made me leave. Other than that, i'd come back if needed.
Went to ER. Because I had been having severe abdominal pains for 3days. I arrived at 8:10 Friday night and did not leave until Saturday morning. They did. CT scan to rule out gallstones. The Dr. told me I didn’t have gallstones and my liver enzymes were normal. Did not mention me having low potassium or me being slightly anemic and arthritis in my back. I found out about these when I saw my PCP on Monday. That was the worst treatment I’ve ever had. I pray that I never have to go there ever again.
My mother had been told just about every year with her primary doctors and ER visits to other hospitals that they could not find a diagnosis for her illness, but kept putting her on other medication to hopefully solve the problem. When my mother was at Methodist University ER they saw her right away and admitted her on 6 Tower. The doctors, nurses, case managers, social workers, chaplains, and other staff took great care of her. They discovered she was on too many medications causing a majority of her side effects. My mom is now active in the community and is able to go camping and hiking which she has not done for several years. So thankful for the help from Methodist University Hospital. :)
It seems like there are some very good doctors (and a few very good nurses) there but they're in such a rush and don't communicate enough. I'm almost constantly bringing up something they missed or communicating what one doctor said to another when they have given conflicting recommendations on treatment (ex one doctor removes a drug and replaces it with another and then another doctor returns to the original drug). The nurses seem to frequently drop the ball as procedures that have been ordered are not entered in the system and basic care procedures (removing old IVs). It is almost impossible to get in touch with a doctor outside of when they make their rounds (even with multiple paging).
